We camped last night in Brora and I gave myself the chance today to take things at a slightly slower pace, stopping to see what the local area had to offer such as looking around Dunrobin Castle.
Later, as I cycled along the waters edge I was aware of a great commotion going on along the end of the pier. A little boy had caught his first crab, which he held up with pride and gave the hugest grin for a picture. Although the smile wasn't quite as big when the crab decided to nip his fingers!
It's been amazing to be back in Scotland; the views are breathtaking. As I cycled along Cromarty Firth I spotted seals playing in the water. AS luck would have it Mum and Dad were right behind me in the van and I was able to flag them down to show them the seals too. Dad even found a piper and paid him to play Mum a tune - the old romantic!
As I cycled across the causeway the winds really picked up, which made for some exhilarating riding. However, as I neared Inverness the A9 became more frantic with large lorries making me feel rather vulnerable on the bike. The road into Moy was hard work and signalled the start of the Cairngorms. It's given me a real taste of what's to come tomorrow. I was cycling straight into the wind for a ten mile uphill stretch, and my legs really feel it tonight! Hopefully however it will make tomorrow a slightly easier run.
I'm sure I will sleep like a log tonight!
