Starting Point: John o'Groats |
We had a few issues on the way up and driving rain on the Scottish borders slowed us right down as we could barely see through the windscreen! Eventually we made it to the northern most tip of the UK - John o'Groats, at about 4pm.
With 70 miles of cycling planned for today, I had hoped to start a bit earlier, so decided to cycle for a couple of hours and see how it went.
Things were picking up; the wind was behind me and the barren landscape and coastline was simply breathtaking. I pushed on and completed the 70 miles in a little over 4 hours! It's amazing what the promise of a hot shower can do.
I'll be camping tonight before heading down to Moy tomorrow. It's great to be on the road at last. People at the campsite are really friendly and I've even been given sponsorship from fellow campers who were interested in our posters in the van!
